GRASSROOTS BEEF

We work in close partnership with Grassroots Farming, a group of farmers based throughout the UK, who are using their businesses as a beacon for change in the food industry.

The mission for this collective is simple and it all begins with ensuring that their farms and landscapes are not depleted by modern agricultural practices.

Instead, the aim over time is to improve the soil, water, air, biodiversity and welfare of both animals and people, to the greatest extent possible. With an endgame to move on from sustainability in farming, and to deliver a system that continually restores the environment.

For ruminant livestock, such as cows and sheep, designed to eat plants, the more diverse the diet attained from the land, the better it is for them. It is also very important for the structure of the soil and there is a strong belief that the newly formed terroir on these farms is contributing to the texture and flavour of the meat produced.

At Turner & George, we have been very impressed by the quality that is coming through from Grassroots Farming – including some of our favourite chefs.

As result, we have curated four meat boxes featuring this very special beef and in partnership with Grassroots, we are going to be talking about this a lot over the coming months.
